Slow Down

The above photo was shot through a jeep window. The girl on the left is my wife Jessica, and the girl on the right is my sister Jenee.

I've decided to slow down. In a certain way, I've decided to give up. I've been fighting for the last year. Fighting for time, always to be discouraged, because there wasn't enough. There will never be enough, so I decided to stop trying and just slow down for a while; let things happen naturally. Soon after deciding that, I found myself enjoying things more, because I wasn't worried about what I could be doing. The little times I have for art seem more potent, because I'm not competing with life itself.

In the words of James Murphy:

"You got to give it up--if you want to live it up."

Except he was talking about money, but I think it still applies.

I'm still creating things, but I'm not letting it stop me from spending time with people.

Tired

Tired from Tom DesLongchamp on Vimeo.

I had a little fun with the new camera today. Hope you enjoy it. I didn't plan to use the song (Tired by LCD Soundsystem). It was actually playing on my stereo when I took the shot of Renton and I liked the feeling of it, so I ripped the song and played it for the rest of the montage.

I forgot the power of a new lens. For the past year I had been taking photographs and video with a fixed lens point-and-shoot camera. With my new camera, I feel like my view of the world has changed just by the new things I can capture.

Upside Down

This is Mr. Josh Wakeman and I upside down at the SAM Sculpture Park. Thanks to Miranda Wakeman for taking this shot. Thanks to Josh's skull for being able to withstand his weight. Thanks to the giant cone for being orange.

Oh, and the grass, sky, buildings, etc.

LCD Sound System makes me want to jump. Check em out--you can listen to every song through the site.

I'm still at work, but I started going insane, so I had to blog. BLOOOG
